It is a memorial to our late sister Erin Brennecke. Erin passed away in 2002 due to cancer. All proceeds from this benefit concert will be donated to Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center where Erin recieved most of her treatments. This year the battle will consist of five awesome bands: Come to Japan The Lush The Ghost of the Forest Black Oxygen Dance Commanders The winner of the battle will walk away with 150$! There will also be a raffle at the door with some great prizes so bring a couple dollars! THIS IS A GREAT CAUSE THANK YOU FOR HELPING US OUT! April 27, 2008 Pitchfork Hearts Sissy Wish Lately it seems those uber-hip indie music czars at Pitchfork can't help touting bands just as Kirksvillain is bringing them to town. This time it's a stellar write-up of Bergen, Norway's Sissy Wish, who play The DuKum Upp this Saturday, March 22 (with Come to Japan). The upshot: "She wants to dance, damnit, and she wants you dancing with her." Advance Tickets available at Washington St. Java Co. and Vintage Grooves (the vinyl and CD shop across from the Kirksville Post Office). March 17, 2008 Help Wisely Wisely, who's played a couple of great gigs here at the DuKum, is gunning for a spot on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
